31 Day Challenge - Day 7: Black & White

Ok I have to admit, out of all the nails I’ve done in this challenge, these are my favorite.
image
I was pretty uninspired about this prompt, and I was considering just doing some newspaper nails, when I found these stickers that I bought for like, two dollars in Japan town, in San Francisco. I figured they’d be pretty crap, but I wanted to try them anyway.
image
I can’t read the packaging, because it’s in Japanese, obviously. So I don’t know if there’s any way to buy them online, but if you live anywhere near San Francisco, they sell them at one of the grocery stores in Japan town. It’s in the nail polish section by the hair dye.
Anyway, It comes with nice little picture instructions for how to apply them.
image
It comes with two sheets of ten, so I’ll be able to get another use out of them.
As you can see, the sticker is just the black part, so I could have used any base color, really.
image
So I lined them up to my nail, cut it down to size, peeled off the backing, and stuck it on my white base.  Then I just used a tiny set of nail clippers to cut off the excess, and topped with two thick coats of topcoat.
Base coat is Orly White Out.

I love how these look. It looks like I used a tiny brush and put tons of effort into my nails, doesn’t it? And it was relatively quick to do.
I’m totally stocking up on them next time I’m in the city.

Thanks for reading!

31 DAY NAIL CHALLENGE, COMMENCE!!!
Yes, that’s right, I’m gonna give it a shot. But I will say right now I will NOT be doing it every day - only when I have a break in studies. Also, I will be doing more than one design for some of the challenges, simply because my lovely roommate has offered her nails as extra canvas.
Day 1 - Red
I wanted to try some butterfly nails again, but make them a bit more realistic looking. So I ended up with these. I still wasn’t completely wowed by them, but I liked them enough.
Colors Used: Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Essie Good as Gold, LA Colors Black, Essie Shine of the Times, Essie Matte About You
And on Kelsey’s nails (since she’s such a Trekkie) I tried some nice simple Red Shirt nails. I LOVE THEM!!!
Colors Used: Essie Russian Roulette, Sinful Colors Pull Over, LA Colors Black

Day 4: Green

Bride of Frankenstein
Frankenstein
This called for something Halloween-y since I’d been too busy to get to anything Halloween yet. So yay! I got at least one spooky design in lol
Colors Used: Maybelline Go Go Green, Essie Blanc, Essie Licorice

Day 1: Red Nails

31 Day Challenge: Day 1 - Red Nails
Base coat (Arens) - Red Nailpolish (Colorama Rubí) - Nail art pen (Enamel art 1000 B&W) - Glitter Red Polish - Top Coat (Pamela Grant)
Hi this is my first day in 31 day nail art challenge 0, i want to change a little the rules because i don’t have enought time to do every day a different nail polish. So i do it one a week so its going to be a 31 week nail polish.
1st day - Red Nails
I used a lovely red of coloroma by maybelline (very cheap in my town $990 Chile) and i made 2 lady bugs.
I hope you like it.
Watch some awesome nails & get inspired.

Day 2: Orange Nails

I did a white base with this one, and then mixed various orange polishes with some nail polish remover and painted them on with a paint brush. Topped it off with a Matte coat.

31 Day Challenge - Day 6: Violet

Well, these didn’t come out as awesome as they could’ve been, probably. I still really like them, but I was just feeling a bit uninspired and I kinda just wanted to get it over with. I used the explosion tape manicure technique from the fabulous Nailside, and did silver explosions coming from different directions on each finger.
image
The base color is two coats of China Glaze Spontaneous, a polish of my sister’s that I’d never tried before, and I actually really like. It’s a lovely blue-toned purple cream, and it dries a bit darker than bottle color. Explosions are done in Sally Hansen Silver Sweep, my favorite silver layering polish. It’s super opaque and dries quickly.
I actually kind of liked my right hand better, but forgot to take pictures of it before it had gotten serious tipwear, and I decided it wasn’t worth it.

Day 7: Black and White

For these all I did was paint my nail black, then took a straw and rimmed it with paint and stamped it on. :)

Day 8: Metallic Nails

Well, this one was kind of difficult to get an image of. The purple that I used underneath has a very metallic sheen to it, And then I topped it off with Gold Flecks. Very basic but it works for Metallic I suppose. Even if you can’t really tell. :-p

Day 2: Flag Nails

I tried the whole ‘watercolour nails’ thing out to try and create vintage USA flags. I don’t think it worked very well but hay-ho, better luck next time!

Day 16: Delicate print

I love how this came out! My first go with using the matte finish top coat and it really does give it a sophisticated finish. A little trouble with the stamp on my middle finger but otherwise I’m very happy. :)

Day 16: Tribal Print

I have been dreading and putting this day off for a while because I don’t really like tribal print and have just been totally uninspired. I finally decided to do just one accent nail and I’m fairly happy with it technically even though overall I’m still very ‘meh’ bout the whole thing.

Day 9: Rainbow Nails

Added a little bit of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Violet. All on top of a white. :)

Day 5: Blue

Thumb: TREASURE. Ring: Monster tentacles
Thumb: sunken ship. Ring: Diving ray

Keeping with the somewhat spooky Halloween vibe, I decided to take a look at the mysterious depths of the sea… AND I FOUND TREASURE! But I think whatever those tentacles belong to isn’t gonna share the gold, so I’ll leave it. By the way, I left these on for A WHOLE WEEK with almost zero noticeable chipping, so I was THRILLED. Did some sponging to achieve the depth.
Colors Used: Forever 21 Periwinkle, Sinful Colors Rain Storm, combo ofPeriwinkle and Essie Blanc for surface highlights and bubbles, Essie Licorice, Essie Good As Gold

Day 7: Black and White

While deciding what to do for the 7th challenge day, I thought “What do I love that has a lot of black and white in it? TIM BURTON!" So these are kinda inspired by everything Tim Burton has done, cuz I love that kook. Enjoy!
Colors Used: Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

Day 1: Red

Something simple and sophisticated for day one of the challenge. Inspired by James Bond, Skyfall - just a deep red with gold underneath.
It was quite hard to get a decent picture that showed both my nails and the underside so I’m afraid this is the best I could do!

Day 14: Flowers

I’m not much of a flowery kind of person. So I went for the less-girly option: BIRDS OF PARADISE, BECAUSE THEY RULE! I don’t know, I’ve just always been intrigued by those plants. So beautiful… Anyway, I also did some cute simple tropical colored flowers to go with them too. Let me know what you think!
Colors Used: Sinful Colors Innocent as a base, Ulta Limelight, Sinful ColorsExotic Green, Essie Russian Roulette, Sinful Colors Pull Over, Sinful ColorsClementine, Maybelline Iced Queen, and Sinful Colors Rain Storm.

Day 15: Delicate

My crappy failure of a left hand...
I went with the technique of using actual lace on my nail for this challenge day, and boy, was it a challenge! I followed the steps in multiple tutorials exactly, but I tried to put a top coat on, and the color bled up from beneath on my left hand! So I didn’t put a top coat on my right hand and took a pic while it lasted. Honestly, I wasn’t too keen on keeping them like that, so after about an hour I took them right off. I know, I’m lame. I just wasn’t a huge fan of them. But it was definitely a learning experience!
Colors Used: Sally Hansen Cafe Au Lait with some lace I found in a drawer of mine

Day 16: Tribal

Ok, so I LOVE how these turned out! I had never tried this style before, and I am incredibly happy with the results. Hope you like them as much as I do! Lemme know what you think!
Colors Used: Icing Posh Princess, Sinful Colors Rise and Shine, OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby?, and Sinful Colors Black on Black

Day 3: Yellow

Yellow is probably my least favourite colour, and I only have one pretty terrible yellow polish. So whilst I like this “spun sugar" technique, and I don’t think I’ll be keeping this manicure on very long.
But it does get a special mention for being one of the few manis where I’ve ended up liking my right hand better!

Day 4: Green

Told you the yellow wouldn’t last long! Today’s a cute kiwi manicure that I saw on cutepolish and just had to try. I seem to have done a lot of fruit themed manis so far?

Day 20: Water Marble

Ugh… these turned out so horrible. I’m ashamed to post them, but after about 5 or 6 tries, this was honestly the best result. I did them while I was at my grandparents’ house, which has rather hard water, so maybe that was the issue. But the polish simply would not behave! Oh well… at least I tried! The colors reminded me a lot of Mardi Gras once I got them on the nail.
Colors Used: Sinful Colors Snow Me White, China Glaze Custom Kicks, Sinful Colors Exotic Green, Sinful Colors This Is It, China Glaze Grape Pop

Day 21: Inspired by a Color

Schnappy in the background :-D
Bricks in the background at my grandparents' houseCookies at Gramma's bakery
The color I was inspired by was Brick Red, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE brick architecture! These were honestly so much fun to do, I didn’t wanna take them off.
Colors Used: OPI Deutsch You Want Me, Baby?, China Glaze Mahogany Magic, Maybelline Audacious Asphalt, Sinful Colors Smokin, Sinful ColorsExotic Green.

Day 22: Inspired by a Song

For Christmas I got The Hunchback of Notre Dame on DVD, so of course I watched it the next day and sang “The Bells of Notre Dame" at the top of my lungs! I love that song so much! So that was the inspiration for this challenge day. Did I do it justice?
Colors Used: Forever 21 Periwinkle, Sinful Colors Rain Storm, Sinful ColorsIsland Coral, OPI Planks a Lot, Sinful Colors Black on Black, Essie Good as Gold, Sinful Colors Nirvana
